Communication

We provide evidence based communication interventions for  people with a disability.

We work with people with little or no spoken language (complex communication needs) as well as those whose spoken language is insufficient to allow them to understand and communicate all the complex range of things they want and need to communicate.


We work across the three areas that impact most on successful communication.

Services Provided

AAC

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is used by people who's spoken communication is not able to meet their communication needs.  People who require AAC generally communicate across a range of modalities including signing / gesture, speech generating devices / iPads, symbol boards / PODD books etc.

People with disabilities who may have spoken language adequate for familiar communication may require AAC visual supports to assist them to understand routine or complex information.  These may take many forms including social stories, visual schedules or tools for problem solving or future planning.

We provide AAC solutions for people that build language and fit the unique needs of each individual.


Social Skills 

We provide targeted social skills for adults, children and young people to help them learn conversation, friendship and problem solving skills as well as understanding emotions and understanding other people's perspectives.

​We can assist clients to identify, understand and respond to their social challenges in a range of settings including home, work, community and with peers.

Problem Solving

We can assist adults, children an young people develop skills and strategies in problem solving and decision making.

Personal Relationship Education

The onset of puberty can mean that teens with disabilities find it difficult to navigate the changing rules around appropriate social boundaries.

We can provide individual and group education focusing on understanding personal relationships rules and boundaries.  Areas covered may include public and private parts and places, public and private actions and understanding of consent.

The extent to the content covered can be individualised to suit the individual and family needs.
